PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an occupant protection device capable of sufficiently protecting an occupant even when it is applied to a rear seat.SOLUTION : This occupant protection device 10 is provided with a curtain 12 capable of deploying in the vertical, left, and right directions inside a vehicle compartment and a pulling device 14 for deploying the curtain 12 and applying a tensile force to the curtain 12 after deployment. The curtain 12 is arranged in a ceiling 3 inside the vehicle compartment while it is wound around a winding shaft 16 when it does not deploy. In the case of emergency, the pulling device 14 pulls both ends of the curtain 12 to deploy the curtain 12 downward. Bags 18, 20 of the curtain 12 are inflated by gas from a gas generator 26. After the curtain 12 deploys, a sufficient tensile force is applied to the curtain 12 by pulling the force of the pulling device 14.
