Deactivation mechanism is configured to interrupt access to data stored in the data storage unit, and the deactivation mechanism is configured to start when the casing is damaged. Power supply for use with a surgical instrument, the power supply comprising a casing, at least one battery, a data storage unit and a controller. At least one rechargeable battery is at least partially located inside the casing, and at least one rechargeable battery is configured to provide power to the surgical instrument.
