System comprises a first connecting element comprising a first body having a first fluid inlet and a first fluid outlet. First connecting element further comprises a self-closing seal to prevent the flow of fluid out of the first fluid outlet of the first connecting element. System includes a second connecting element comprising a second body having a second fluid inlet and a second fluid outlet. Second fluid inlet is adapted to replace said self-closing seal of the first coupling member when it is inserted into the first coupling member. Second coupling element includes a check valve located in or around the second housing. Check valve, when introduced into the first connecting element, is adapted to bias the self-closing seal of the first connecting element, to allow the passage of fluid between the first connecting element and the second connecting element. When disconnecting said first connecting element from said second connecting element, small to undetectable contamination by the fluid on the external surfaces of the first connecting element and the second connecting element is provided.
