PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a mixed mode chromatography method for separating a correctly folded conformation from an incorrectly folded conformation of a given protein. SOLUTION : Disclosed herein is a mixed mode chromatography method for separating correctly folded etanercept from incorrectly folded etanercept comprising the steps of : binding a protein mixture comprising etanercept in both correctly folded conformation and incorrectly folded conformation to a mixed mode chromatography resin having an ion exchange moiety and a hydrophobic moiety; and eluting the correctly folded etanercept from the mixed resin.
