PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a medicine inspection device and a medicine inspection method capable of discriminating propriety of a medicine even when the medicine is a tablet with a pattern formed. SOLUTION : A medicine inspection device includes : a light permeable support plate 10 on which a medicine 3 can be mounted; a first imaging camera 20 capable of imaging the medicine 3 mounted on the support plate 10 from above; a first polarizer 30 interposed between the support plate 10 and the first imaging camera 20; a first illumination source 40 interposed between the support plate 10 and the first imaging camera 20 for irradiation with a light beam in a medicine 3 direction from a transverse direction; a second imaging camera 21 capable of imaging the medicine 3 mounted on the support plate 10 from below; a second polarizer 31 interposed between the support plate 10 and the second imaging camera 21; a second illumination source 41 interposed between the support plate 10 and the second imaging camera 21 for irradiation with a light beam in the medicine 3 direction from the transverse direction; and a computer apparatus 50 for discriminating propriety of the medicine 3 by using image information on the medicine 3 acquired by the first and second imaging cameras 20 and 21.
