Device for sterilization of caps comprises a sterilization chamber having an inlet and an outlet for caps, and a guiding means for guiding the caps through a sterilization chamber. Device additionally comprises a nozzle for spraying a sterilant into a sterilization chamber and at least two outlets for removing gases from the sterilization chamber. At that, the first outlet hole is located at the inlet for caps and the second outlet hole is located at the outlet for caps, and in the flow direction before the nozzle there is a valve which is configured to selectively redirect flow from the evaporator into the outlet header, and not to the nozzle.
