The invention provides substituted benzamide compounds, a representative example of which is shown, having activity as sodium channel (e.g., NaV1.7) inhibitors that are useful in the manufacture of medicaments for treating sodium channel-mediated diseases or conditions, such as pain, as well as other diseases and conditions associated with the mediation of sodium channels, and pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds.
