PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel genetically attenuated Bordetella pertussis strain that expresses heterologous protein for use in mucosal immune sensitization as a vaccine. SOLUTION : Produced is a genetically attenuated Bordetella pertussis strain which expresses a hybrid protein comprising an N-terminal fragment of filamentous haemagglutinin (FHA), and a heterologous epitope different from FHA or an antigenic protein or a protein fragment, and in which a gene encoding native FHA protein is inactivated. Further provided is a live attenuated vaccine for the treatment of mucosal or systemic infectious diseases comprising the Bordetella pertussis strain defined above, in order to induce an immune response to pathogens responsible for systemic or mucosal infections.
