A strip 23 incorporating a bright decorative trim 22 effect is manufactured by adhering a length of plastics foil (52) along the length of part of the surface of a stainless steel or anodized aluminium blank 50 : The metal strip with the foil thereon is then covered with a bonding agent and may be rolled to a particular shape. It is then passed through an extruder to apply a covering of extruded plastics or rubber material over the metal and the plastics foil. To form the bright trim effect 22, it is then merely necessary to cut through the extruded material over the plastics foil, and through the plastics foil, to the metal, and then to strip off the desired length of plastics foil, thus taking off the extruded material covering it. The bright surface of the metal 50 is thereby exposed.
