The communication network can be provided with a gateway to some fixed or mobile telecommunication network or some cable television network for coupling to an external Internet server. The Internet server with the corresponding data bases depicts, stores and presents the properties of the equipment in terms which are understood by both the users of the equipments and by the nodes of the equipments, producing an intelligent, general and flexible user interface for such equipment, with the aid of which the user via the Internet and the Internet server can install, check, control, regulate, monitor and maintain such equipments. - The Internet server stores and presents information about the equipments in an Internet format which is generally accessible. The equipments via an Internet access can be configurated so that via the connected gateway alarm and fault reports can be transmitted to the Internet server for further handling.
