The door (30), designed to give access to the rear body opening (13) of a vehicle such as an estate car or station wagon, has hinges on its upper edge mounted on pivots (41) located on the inside of the rear ends of two roof bars (20). Each bar is fixed to the roof by a rear foot positioned close to the rear edge of the roof, and the door has two side uprights (32) with projecting ends (321) for the hinge pivots, which are in the form of freely-rotating bushes and pivot pins.
