At least one of the computers or a subset of the network of computers is configured with software to receive registration information about a member of the public from another of the computers over the internet to establish a record of a registered member) receive information about real estate parcels available for sale, receive lottery ticket payments associated with a selected real estate parcel from a plurality of registered members, and increment a total of received lottery ticket payments. When the total of lottery ticket payments for the selected real estate parcel reaches a predefined threshold, the configured computer selects a registered member from among the plurality of registered members who have made payments associated with the selected real estate parcel to be awarded ownership of the selected real estate parcel.
