A system and method for providing a self-service process to consumers such as for example, borrowers in the real estate market. An escrow module can be configured to execute rules to manage and guide a consumer through a self-service escrow process. For example, the escrow module can be configured to provide information to the borrow, prompt the borrower for needed input to begin and carry out a financing process, interface with the title company and other third-party providers to coordinate the financing process, check and maintain the status and progress of the escrow process as it is being carried out, verify that all items are complete for the financing, and coordinate follow up for missing or open items.
